DICK'S Sporting Goods Skills Competitions

DICK'S Sporting Goods Sportsmanship Award
  • Each coach will submit one player's name after each game on Friday and Saturday.
  • A player's name can only be submitted once.
  • A player's name will be drawn from the names submitted as the award winner.

DICK'S Sporting Goods On-Site Giveaways
  • DICK'S Sporting Goods will have a canopy setup at the tournament on Saturday.
  • DICK'S Sporting Goods will have giveaways available for everyone!
DICK'S Sporting Goods Home Run Derby Rules
  1. One player from each team in the 11u and 12u divisions can participate in the Home Run Derby.
  2. The Home Run Derby is tentatively scheduled for Saturday night of the tournament.(Weather Pending)
  3. Player's name will be submitted by the head coach to OnTurf Sports at least three weeks prior to the event.
  4. The participating players and their team name will be listed below as they become available.
  5. A coach will pitch to their player and each team should have a player in full catcher's gear ready when their team is up.
  6. Each player shall have 2 minutes to hit as many home runs as possible. Ball must be fair. Foul balls do not count.
  7. The player who accumulates the most home runs will be the Champion.
  8. All baseballs shall be returned for the competition.

Tie Breakers
If one or more players have the same number of home runs, the tie will be broken in this order
  1. In a second round, players will be given 1 minute to hit as many home runs as possible.
    Ball must be fair. Foul balls do not count.
  2. Additional rounds will continue with the players with the most home runs in each successive round until a winner is determined. Ball must be fair. Foul balls do not count.
DICK'S Sporting Goods Home Run Derby Awards
  • Winner of 11u Division will receive an award from DICK'S Sporting Goods.
  • Winner of 12u Division will receive an award from DICK'S Sporting Goods.
DICK'S Sporting Goods Road Runner Rules
  1. One player from each team can participate in the Road Runner competition.
  2. The Road Runner competition is tentatively scheduled for Saturday night of the tournament.(Weather Pending)
  3. Player's name will be submitted by the head coach to OnTurf Sports at least three weeks prior to the event.
  4. The participating players and their team name will be listed below as they become available.
  5. Each player shall begin in the right hand batter's box positioned as a batter. The timer will say "Go" and begin the clock. The player must touch each base in order 1st to 2nd to 3rd to home plate. Time will stop when the player touches home plate.
  6. A 3 second penalty will be given for each base missed.
  7. All age groups will run 70 foot bases.
  8. The player who has the fastest time will be the Champion.
Tie Breakers
If one or more players have the same time, the tie will be broken by players running the bases again.

  • Winner of 8u Division will receive an award from DICK'S Sporting Goods.
  • Winner of 9u Division will receive an award from DICK'S Sporting Goods.
  • Winner of 10u Division will receive an award from DICK'S Sporting Goods.
  • Winner of 11u Division will receive an award from DICK'S Sporting Goods.
  • Winner of 12u Division will receive an award from DICK'S Sporting Goods.
  • Winner of 13u Division will receive an award from DICK'S Sporting Goods.
  • Winner of 14u Division will receive an award from DICK'S Sporting Goods.
DICK'S Sporting Goods Around The Horn Rules
  1. Nine players from each team can participate in the Around The Horn competition.
  2. The Around The Horn competition is tentatively scheduled for Saturday night of the tournament.(Weather Pending)
  3. Team's name will be submitted by the head coach to OnTurf Sports at least three weeks prior to the event.
  4. The participating team name will be listed below as they become available.
  5. As the ball travels "around the horn" each base must be tagged or touched by any part of the player's body, as in a force-out.
  6. Teams are timed on how quickly they can throw the ball "around the horn". Best team time wins the competition.
  7. There will be backup baseballs placed at each base and outfield spot, in the case of overthrows. When a baseball is overthrown to a position, then the player has the option of going after the overthrown baseball or picking up one of the backup baseballs (with a three second penalty assessed).
  8. The order will be as follows:
    • Time begins when baseball leaves the pitcher's hand for the throw to the catcher who steps on home plate.
    • Catcher throws to third base.
    • Third baseman receives the throw, touches his bag and proceeds to throw to second base.
    • Second baseman receives the throw, touches his bag and proceeds to throw to first base.
    • First baseman receives the throw, touches his bag and proceeds to throw back to the catcher.
    • The catcher receives the throw, touches home plate and proceeds to throw down to second base, with the shortstop covering the bag and receiving the throw.
    • The shortstop touches second base and then proceeds to throw to the right fielder.
    • The right fielder receives the throw, then touches the right field cone. The right fielder then proceeds to throw back to second base, with the shortstop covering the bag again.
    • The shortstop receives the throw, touches second base and then proceeds to throw to the center fielder.
    • The center fielder receives the throw, touches the center field cone and then proceeds to throw to third base.
    • The third baseman receives the throw, touches his bag and proceeds to throw to the left fielder.
    • The left fielder receives the throw, touches the left field cone and then proceeds to throw home to the catcher.
    • Once the catcher gathers or receives the ball, he must touch home to stop the timer.
Tie Breakers
If first place teams have the same time, the tie will be broken by completing the Around The Horn again.

  • Winner of 8u Division will receive an award from DICK'S Sporting Goods.
  • Winner of 9u Division will receive an award from DICK'S Sporting Goods.
  • Winner of 10u Division will receive an award from DICK'S Sporting Goods.
  • Winner of 11u Division will receive an award from DICK'S Sporting Goods.
  • Winner of 12u Division will receive an award from DICK'S Sporting Goods.
  • Winner of 13u Division will receive an award from DICK'S Sporting Goods.
  • Winner of 14u Division will receive an award from DICK'S Sporting Goods.
